Penrose Research

We are an on-demand AI lab for companies without one.

Send us a problem.

The gap we work in

Everyone has access to models. But there doesn't exist a trivial way to make them useful.

The gap is the layer in between — the ontology that describes your domain, the tools and context that let a model act inside it, and the evals that tell you whether any of it actually works. That layer is not a prompt and it is not a platform purchase. It has to be built against your data and your constraints.

That's what we build.

How we work

You hand us an abstract AI problem. We come back with what we can and cannot realistically help with.

If the scope looks right, we conduct the research and engineering independently, then hand back everything we did, packaged so you can own it.

That includes the code, research, experiments, documentation, and the reasoning behind the decisions we made. We aim to leave you with something your own team can understand, extend, and operate without depending on us.

You can build your own AI team around it, or hire us to maintain and develop it further as needed.

What we don't do

We don't pretrain frontier models. We don't do funded academic research. We don't have a product to sell you.

Who we are

Team = {"PhD": 5, "Masters": 2, "SWE": 3}

By staying lean, we deliver academic rigor at the speed of a small technical team. We're scientists, mathematicians, and engineers who like varied, difficult problems, testing ideas fast, and getting to clear, defensible answers.

Our focus is the technically complex direction you don't have the time, team, or resources to chase internally — the focused research and engineering that establishes what works, what doesn't, and what's worth building.
